Past Lives follows two childhood friends over the course of 24 years, sharing a common bond, but leading very different lives in different countries and cultures. Universal themes of time passing, and the role of destiny are explored in a delicate and sophisticated manner. This remarkable, poignant film début was nominated for an academy award for best picture.

Trivia

In an interview on June 2, 2023 on NPR with Ailsa Chang, Greta Lee indicated that she found it amusing that when she told her family and friends that she was taking this role, many of them were surprised and wondered if she could even speak Korean.

Despite his character's thick accent and broken English, Teo Yoo, who portrays Hae Sung, actually speaks very fluent English along with three other languages.

This event includes our usual New Year social beforehand. Your hardworking committee members will be on hand to help answer questions and say hello.  You just need to collect a glass of wine or soft drink, if you'd like one and grab a seat.

Entry is free for HFS members.

Tickets for non-members cost £6 each (Under 25's £3).  These can be purchased online or will available on the night from the HFS desk in the Odeon lobby (contactless payments only please, we are not taking cash this season).  A small processing fee will be applied to all tickets.

Please note that doors open at 6.45pm and the film will start at 7.30pm.  All seating is unreserved so grab a seat wherever you like.

Parking is free after 6pm for all Odeon cinema-goers but you MUST display a voucher obtained from the Odeon lobby.
